Orange Days was one of those drama that I couldn’t stop watching after the first episode. I find the story very captivating and the situation very identifiable for me personally. What is the story you ask? Kai Yuuki, played by Satoshi Tsumabuki is a senior in college.
He only has a few months left in school before he will face the real world. There is a scene in which Kai is waiting for the next subway to arrive. To his right is a salary man saying sorry to his boss over and over, and to his left a group of teens after a rowdy party. He finds himself in the middle of it all literally and figuratively. While under the burden of the adult world, Kai meets a young girl playing the violin on his way to class. She is Sae Hagio, played by Kou Shibasaki, an aspirting violinist who suddenly became deaf 4 years ago. From there, a story of love, determination, and finding your true self begins. The story centers around the “orange” theme because of its bittersweet taste; a theme that correlates with the teenage youth. Teens enjoy the freedom, excitement, and richness of life in every way. However, this luxury (like all good things) comes to an end at some point as a teenager figures out a way to enter the adult world. This transition is demonstrated in the drama through the frantic desire to find a job. Kai is the first to look for one as he is worried whether he will be able to support himself once he graduates. But everything changes when he meets Sae. Read more…
