Hello, everyone. Once again, many apologies for not keeping up with this blog in the past few weeks. If anyone’s in the US education system right now, you all should know it was / is Finals Week. Thankfully, I only have one final left which gives me the time to post this. Also, I like to point out that all review posts now include a “R” in the subject line to separate them from all of my rambling posts.
Well, as the year winds down this December, I’d like to take this time to take a look back at all of the Asian cinemas I’ve seen this year that makes an impact on me may it be positively or negatively. Also please note that even though I did see these shows/movie this year, they may not have been produced this year. Additionally, shows that I’ve already reviewed won’t be in this post. Let’s start with the bad ones, shall we?

Que Sera Sera: This drama gains a lot of hype upon its released in Korea due mainly to its starring actor Eric Mung – rapper for the longest Korean boy-band in history Shinhwa. He has appeared in several dramas and movies already and have somewhat solidify himself as an actor. However, this is my first time seeing his acting talent. The story is about a middle-class advertising PR (Eric) and his quest to emerge himself in the society of the rich and famous through women. He unexpectedly met a young woman along the way who is the complete opposite of what he’s looking for in a girlfriend. Personally, I was disappointed in the drama because of its storyline and the pace of the show. Everything drags on SO MUCH. Nothing really happens in each episode except some slapping or exchange of catty remarks. As for the acting, I think everyone did an okay job. I wasn’t captivated by anyone’s character though.
Overall Rating: C
- 9 Ends 2 Outs: I’m sure everyone who’ve been reading this blog already knows its basic storyline so I won’t be redundant about it. The first 5 episodes (exactly 5) were funny, heart-warming, and creative. From those 5 episodes, I eagerly wait for the other episodes to be subtitled to watch, but the continuation was a bit disappointing in my opinion. The storyline that originates from discovering the lines between friendship and love suddenly change to discovering everone’s individual love-life. Furthermore, they weren’t even funny at all. I was bored most of the time and now feel quite cheated because I wasted so much time on it.

Fantasy Couple / Couple of Fantasy: This drama was based on the movie Overboard starring Goldie Hawn in 1987. The story goes there once live an evil tyrant whose name is Anna Jo (play on the name Joanna in which Goldie Hann portrayed in the movie). Her empire is vast and she has control over everything, including her bumbling husband who is utterly afraid of her. After a fight between the couple, Anna accidentally slips over the railing of her yacht and falls into the ocean. She wakes up with a serious case of amnesia and no one around knows her true identity. She is picked up by a handy-man in the village who tricks her into thinking she is his girlfriend who LOVES to clean up his house. This drama is hiliariously done with EVERY episodes full of awesome comedy. Underlining the laughter, the show talks about the possibility of someone to change may it be for the better or for the worse. However, the most important thing is to be yourself. Just by doing so, you’ll not only gain friends but a greater appreciation for those who love you for who you are.
